This project blends traditional American/English country-house mudroom culture with contemporary residential design. Deep silk-matt brown lacquered cabinetry, a natural solid oak bench, vertical timber back panelling and brushed brass accessories create a cohesive entrance composition. Full-height cabinetry, layered open and enclosed storage, concealed LEDs and an integrated tall wardrobe bring order and a warm welcome.
Material and Colour Balance
Silk-matt dark-mink / taupe-grey lacquer on the main cabinetry, full-height overhead cupboards and right-hand tower gives the composition a calm, sophisticated presence.
Two-level neoclassical shaker profiles on doors and drawers and an elegant cornice reinforce the traditional crafted character.
A natural oak-veneered / solid timber bench top brings warmth and organic texture to the dark matt cabinetry.
Vertically jointed timber panelling behind the coat hooks increases the sense of depth.
Individual brushed aged-brass wall hooks, round brass knobs on overhead cupboards and brass bar handles on the tall wardrobe add a warm metallic sheen.
Concealed warm-yellow 3000K linear LEDs beneath the upper open compartments and above the lower shoe niches provide practical visibility and depth.
Technical and Architectural Design
Layered Entrance Functions: A shoe-changing seat, everyday coat hooks, seasonal box storage and an enclosed wardrobe are integrated within one architectural volume.
Two-Level Shoe and Organiser Niches: Four modules form two rows beneath the bench. Linen/felt storage baskets occupy the upper row, while the lower row provides ventilated open storage for everyday shoes.
Enclosed Tall Tower and Drawers: A full-height right-hand wardrobe stores long coats and bulky outerwear, with two drawers below for keys and accessories.
Daylight from the Entrance: Light filtering through the glazed entrance door on the side reveals the warmth of the taupe tones and timber grain.
