Modern Shaker Kitchen

In this project, we brought classic country warmth together with deep matte navy blue shaker cabinetry and solid oak countertops. Enriched by an apron-front white ceramic farm sink, herringbone backsplash tiles, and aged brass details, the L-shaped layout infuses the space with a nostalgic, elegant, and welcoming family atmosphere through its internally illuminated glass display cabinets and expansive wooden island.

Our primary objective in this project is to create a timeless gathering space by blending the intimacy of traditional English kitchen heritage with modern residential ergonomics. Balancing the natural authenticity of solid wood with deep navy hues and warm lighting scenarios, we aimed to offer users both a highly functional culinary environment and a peaceful living experience designed to host enduring conversations.

Project Details

Design Decisions That Transform the Space

Nostalgic Navy and Wood Warmth: Classic Country Inspiration

In this project, we brought the warmth and poise of traditional English kitchen heritage together with a modern color palette. Through deep navy blue Shaker fronts, solid oak countertops, and classic ceramic detailing, we transformed the kitchen into a timeless, welcoming, and highly functional family hub.

Material and Color Balance

  • Deep, matte navy blue Shaker doors were applied across all cabinetry and the kitchen island, granting the space a sophisticated, classic gravity.

  • Warm-toned natural solid oak (butcher block) was selected for the countertops and island surface, balancing the cool undertones of navy and infusing the room with residential warmth.

  • Textural depth was enhanced across the backsplash using a herringbone tile layout behind the range and a classic subway pattern across adjacent work zones.

  • Aged brass/gold accents chosen for the cabinet hardware and island faucet stand out as nostalgic luxury elements against the rich navy surfaces.

Function and Spatial Layout

  • Centered in the layout, the expansive solid oak island broadens the preparation area while establishing an inviting social focal point with classic wooden bar stools.

  • A traditional white ceramic apron-front farm sink paired with an aged brass gooseneck faucet reinforces the nostalgic country aesthetic in the wash zone.

  • Warm interior LED illumination within glass-front upper cabinets and timber range hood trim merges with recessed ceiling downlights and wire-mesh brass pendants over the island to establish a peaceful, layered lighting scheme.

  • Modern built-in appliances including a stainless steel oven suite and refrigerator concealed within the right tall tower are integrated flush with the classic millwork.

  • Deep matte navy blue Shaker panels were utilized across cabinet doors, tall towers, and the kitchen island.

  • A social gathering area was defined over the island with wire-mesh brass pendants and wood-legged bar stools.
  • A built-in oven and an anthracite double-door refrigerator were integrated seamlessly into the tall cabinetry run.
